The origins of Orlagh house date back to the early 18th Century when is was constructed as a private residence for the prominent Fitzwilliam family. Its architecture reflects the elegant Georgian style, with grandeur and attention to detail in it's design.
In the 19th century it became the residence of a wealthy banking family, the Bloods. They added their own touches to they estate, including picturesque gardens, and a charming boathouse on Doddy River.
During the 20th Century, Orlagh House took on a new role as a Catholic seminary, serving as a place for training and educating future priests.
