According to Norfolk Heritage Explorer, the oldest section of the building is the octagonal brick tower, believed to have been constructed around 1480, resembling structures found at Oxburgh Hall. The main portion of the hall as it stands today originates from the latter part of the 16th century, with significant restoration work carried out during the 19th century. During the 16th century, the hall followed an H-shaped design, featuring a central passage and a kitchen located within one of the wings.
