This natural swimming pool puts sustainability at the forefront as it harvests rainwater from the roof and is chemical-free.
I am a Garden Designer and installed this Natural Swimming Pond in my own garden last year.
Some of these photos are from mid-build. There are more plants now and the water is at the top, filled completely by rainwater harvested off the house roofs.
It has a swimming zone, 5m wide, which is 2m deep max, from a shallower end of 1.4m. There is also a regeneration zone, 5m wide, filled with plants and reed beds which keeps it crystal clear. No chemicals are used in the water. Dragonflies and other insects are frequent visitors.
The garden around the pool is also planted-up for long-shots. The decking is new and clean. Ducks and birds love visiting. There are no fish as this upsets the natural balance, keeping the water at a low nitrogen level and hence, free from algae.
Keepers Cottage was a tied cottage to Walton Manor. Henry VIII owned Walton Manor. The Keeper looked after the surrounding land for shooting and timber. It was a Deer Park and we have found deer in our garden sometimes.
